While following the principles of its charter, INDP supports its action on a widened vision of the development, a clean ethics, and preoccupations with independence.

A holistic Development

Intercultural Network for Development and Peace (INDP) is an Indian Charitable Trust registered in Chennai. INDP states that development should be holistic and considers the existence of five elements, which make part of human life: Social, Economic, Cultural, Political and Spiritual. And, to build peace, INDP feels that all the existing violent situations should be identified, denounced and fought through non-violence means and eradicated totally.

“Then the development will be defined as being that of the whole society, a process of adjustment, change and evolution, registered in the time. It will not be defined any more like a goal to reach, decided in advance by external agents. And Development could rhyme with Peace. ”

INDP works with below poverty line population both in rural and urban areas in order to allow them to be part of the society.

Conducts classes for social workers, pedagogical workshops, cultural events, street theatres; it also edits documents and publishes various books and articles for children, women and on the various developmental aspects; undertakes research with local and foreign students, works on cultural tourism.

Ethics

“It is an issue of adding the Ethics mention to the concept of development. It underlines a concern of the concepts of dignity, justice and equality; it will be the substructure of economic prosperity”.

Financings

INDP does not receive subsidies for its own functioning; this so as to preserve its coherence and its independence. It finances its actions thanks to provisions of services invoiced for its work of expertise of projects, with its formations and the edition and the sale of its books. On the other hand the mobilized subsidies, from abroad or
India, are always allocated with a specific project for which it subjected a request for preliminary financing.
